Choose Your Business Identity

Geographic or national number?

The right number depends on how you want customers to recognise and contact your business. These are different numbering concepts; the exact numbers available to you depend on the voice provider and its allocation rules.

Location-associated

Geographic Number

A geographic number is associated with a specific geographic numbering area. It can suit a business that wants a local identity for a particular town, city or region.

Illustrative South African example 051 023 1341

The 051 area code is associated with the Bloemfontein region. This example illustrates the format only; it is not a promise that a particular number can be allocated for your VoIP service.

Non-geographic option

National Number

A national, non-geographic number can give a business a broader identity that is not tied to one local area in the same way as a geographic number. Its availability and call charges depend on the specific number range and provider.

Example of a South African non-geographic format 087 XXX XXXX

The 087 format is an example of a non-geographic number range. The masked digits are illustrative, not an assigned or available number. Confirm the exact number type and rates with us before choosing your service.

Important: A number being geographic or non-geographic does not, by itself, guarantee a particular coverage area, portability arrangement or call tariff. We can help you establish which numbering options your selected voice service supports before activation.

How We Get You Started

A clear path from order to first call.

We help you understand what is needed before the service is configured, so the number of users, equipment and calling features are considered from the start.

01

Discuss Your Requirements

Tell us how many people need to call, whether you need a business number and which features matter to your operation.

02

Choose a Suitable Setup

Select a voice plan, numbering option and compatible handset or softphone arrangement based on availability and requirements.

03

Install & Configure

Arrange the required installation, connect and provision supported equipment, and configure the agreed calling features.

04

Test & Hand Over

Test supported inbound and outbound calls, check the setup and explain the basic functions to your team.

Good to Know

Understand your voice service.

A little preparation helps you choose the right package and avoid surprises when setting up your business phone system.

Internet Is Required

VoIP carries calls over an internet connection. Latency, jitter, packet loss and network congestion can affect audio quality.

Handsets Are Optional

Depending on your plan, you may use a compatible IP phone, computer or mobile softphone. Check device compatibility first.

Choose the Right Number

Geographic and non-geographic numbers have different numbering characteristics. Availability, rates and allocation must be confirmed.

Installation Is Important

Phone provisioning, network setup and correct call configuration help prepare your service for day-to-day use.

Add Users as You Grow

Hosted PBX setups can support additional extensions and features when available under your selected plan and provider configuration.

Check Calling Allowances

Review the included minutes, destinations, additional call charges and any service or installation fees before confirming an order.

Connectivity Matters
