Our commitment to responsible use

Customers are expected to use Eye Intuition Telecoms services lawfully, securely and considerately. This policy should be read together with the applicable service agreement, package terms, privacy notice and Fair Usage Policy.

01Purpose and scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") establishes the standards for using services supplied by Eye Intuition Telecoms (Pty) Ltd ("Eye Intuition", "we", "us" or "our"), including applicable broadband connectivity, voice and VoIP services, networking, managed IT support, hosting, security solutions and related technology services.

The policy applies to customers and, where relevant, their employees, users, visitors and other persons permitted to access services through a customer's account or equipment.

By using a service, customers are expected to comply with this policy and the terms applicable to that service. Where a specific contract imposes additional requirements, those requirements should be considered alongside this policy.

02Customer responsibilities

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their use of our services is appropriate and lawful. This includes:

  • Providing accurate account and service information and keeping relevant contact details up to date.
  • Protecting account credentials, passwords, PINs, router access and other authentication details.
  • Taking reasonable steps to secure connected devices, local networks and business systems.
  • Ensuring that people using a service through their account understand and follow this policy.
  • Using supplied equipment in accordance with installation instructions and applicable service terms.
  • Reporting suspected unauthorised access, compromised accounts, suspicious usage or security incidents promptly.
  • Obtaining the permissions, licences and consents required for content, software, data or communications they use or distribute.

Customers should not share access credentials with unauthorised persons or permit others to use their connection for unlawful activities.

03Prohibited activities

Our services must not be used to engage in, facilitate or knowingly support unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or harmful activities. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:

Illegal activity

Using connectivity, communications or technology services to commit or facilitate an offence or violate applicable law.

Unauthorised access

Attempting to access systems, accounts, networks or data without permission, or bypassing legitimate access controls.

Abuse and harassment

Sending threats, unlawful harassment, fraudulent messages or communications intended to intimidate or deceive.

Malicious software

Distributing malware, ransomware, spyware or other harmful code, or operating systems intended to compromise others.

Fraud and impersonation

Conducting scams, identity theft, phishing, deceptive impersonation or unauthorised use of another person's identity.

Rights infringement

Using services to unlawfully distribute copyrighted material, expose confidential information or infringe others' rights.

Customers must not use our services to send unsolicited bulk communications in violation of applicable law, manipulate network traffic maliciously, or deliberately interfere with other users' access to services.

04Network integrity and fair use

Customers must not deliberately damage, disrupt, overload or interfere with networks, infrastructure, systems or services belonging to Eye Intuition, its connectivity providers or other parties.

Examples of prohibited conduct include:

  • Launching denial-of-service attacks or deliberately generating malicious traffic.
  • Scanning, probing or testing systems without appropriate authorisation.
  • Interfering with radio equipment, network infrastructure or other users' connections.
  • Reselling, redistributing or sharing a service beyond the permissions of the applicable agreement.
  • Bypassing technical controls or using a service in a manner that materially compromises network security.

Service performance may depend on coverage, signal quality, congestion, the underlying network, equipment and other technical factors. Any applicable data thresholds, traffic management, speed restrictions or package-specific fair-use conditions are addressed in the relevant service terms and Fair Usage Policy.

This AUP does not itself establish a particular data cap, speed threshold or guaranteed service level.

05Security and access controls

Customers must take reasonable precautions to protect their accounts, devices and networks. Where applicable, this includes changing default passwords, installing security updates, maintaining malware protection and limiting administrative access.

Customers must not attempt to circumvent authentication, exploit vulnerabilities without authorisation, intercept private communications or access information that does not belong to them.

If Eye Intuition provides managed security or IT support, the precise scope of monitoring, maintenance, incident response and responsibility will depend on the agreed service description. Customers remain responsible for systems and tasks outside that agreed scope.

06VoIP and communication services

Voice and communication services must be used for lawful and legitimate communications in accordance with the applicable voice plan, usage terms and relevant telecommunications rules.

Customers must not use these services to:

  • Conduct fraudulent calling, caller-ID manipulation or unlawful impersonation.
  • Generate abusive, deceptive or unlawful automated calls or messages.
  • Exploit voice systems, SIP accounts, PBX platforms or telephone numbers without authorisation.
  • Attempt to avoid applicable charges through manipulation or unauthorised use.
  • Use another person's number or account without permission.

Customers should secure SIP credentials, PBX administration interfaces, voicemail PINs and remote access. Customers may be responsible for charges associated with authorised account usage as set out in their service agreement. Suspected account compromise should be reported as soon as possible.

07Managed IT, hosting and related services

Customers using IT support, hosting, networking, CCTV, cloud or other technology services must ensure that their systems and activities comply with applicable law and the agreed service scope.

  • Hosting must not knowingly be used to distribute malicious code, phishing pages, unlawful content or material that infringes others' rights.
  • Customers must not use supplied infrastructure to attack, compromise or disrupt other systems.
  • Customers must maintain appropriate authorisation for access to devices, premises, accounts and data.
  • Backups, disaster recovery, retention and monitoring are provided only where included in the applicable service agreement.
  • Customers must not request or permit technical work that would facilitate unauthorised access or unlawful surveillance.

Any additional requirements for hosting, software licences, remote support, CCTV or managed IT services may be set out in the relevant order, statement of work or service agreement.

08Privacy and data protection

Customers should respect the privacy, confidentiality and data rights of other people when using our services. They must not unlawfully collect, disclose, intercept or misuse personal information or confidential communications.

Eye Intuition handles personal information in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and its privacy documentation. The information processed and the parties responsible for processing may vary depending on the service and the role of relevant network or technology providers.

Customers who process other people's personal information through their own business systems remain responsible for their own applicable obligations, including appropriate permissions, security and retention practices.

This section is not a substitute for our privacy notice or any data-processing terms agreed with a customer.

09Reporting, investigation and enforcement

Customers who become aware of suspected abuse, a security incident or a breach of this policy should notify Eye Intuition using the contact details below. Please provide sufficient information to help us understand the concern without sending unnecessary sensitive information.

Where a potential breach is reported or identified, we may assess the available information, request clarification, work with relevant service providers or take other reasonable steps consistent with applicable law and the relevant service agreement.

Depending on the circumstances, applicable law and contractual terms, responses may include requesting corrective action, securing an affected account, restricting affected access, referring a matter to an appropriate provider or authority, or taking contractual action where permitted.

Any suspension, restriction, termination or recovery of costs remains subject to the applicable agreement, legal requirements and the circumstances of the incident. This policy does not create an automatic penalty or guarantee that a particular enforcement action will be taken.

10Third-party services and dependencies

Certain services may rely on third-party networks, carriers, platforms, software vendors, hosting providers or other infrastructure providers. Those services may also be subject to additional terms, technical requirements or acceptable-use rules.

Customers must comply with applicable third-party requirements communicated to them as part of the service. Service availability and performance may depend on factors outside Eye Intuition's direct control, subject to any commitments in the applicable agreement and relevant law.

11Policy updates and interpretation

We may review this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, operational requirements or applicable law. Where required, changes will be communicated and implemented in accordance with the applicable agreement and legal requirements.

If a provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude a right or obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
